Dipl.-Ing (FH) Michael Rüffer (53) is the Technical Managing Director of Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF). After studying electrical engineering at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, specialising in drive technology, he worked for Siemens AG in Erlangen in the project planning of local transport rail vehicles.At VGF, his previous positions were head of the rail business division, operations manager BOStrab and department head of the light rail workshops.For Fraport AG, he is active as deputy operations manager of the GOA4 passenger transport system (PTS). In the past, he was railway operations manager at the VIAS railway company. Mr. Rüffer is active in various UITP and VDV committees as well as in the joint examination committee for the examination to become an operations manager for tramway companies in the subject “vehicle technology”. At the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, he holds the lecture “Electrical Railways” as part of a teaching assignment.
